How To Become a Game Streamer?

Video game streaming is one of the coolest ways to spend your time and actually make a living. While not all Game Streamers are going to earn 4 or 5 figures, it’s still nice to play games and interact with your audience. Plus, streaming is super easy to do and everyone will be able to get started with it. Here are some of the steps you want to pursue.

What do you need?

The first thing you need for streaming is a good computer. A good processor and around 8 GB of RAM will work just fine, of course any newer components will work even better. It depends on what games you want to play.

Another thing to note is that some Game Streamers are using two PCs, one for games and one for streaming the games on the other computer. That’s up to you, as a new Game Streamer it’s a good idea to use a single game at least for now. You will also require a microphone and a camera too. Ideally you want to purchase the best ones you can for the price.

Pick the desired platform

You can stream on a variety of game streaming platforms. You have Twitch which is extremely popular. Then you have YouTube gaming. You can also stream on Mixer, HitBox, Beam, Azubu, Bigo Live, Afreeca, Disco Melee and many others. The idea here is that you just have to select the platform you like and customize the experience based on that. It can be very impressive and exciting, just make the right choice.

Select and install the desired broadcasting software

In order to become a Game Streamer, you do need to select the right broadcasting software. Otherwise you will be unable to stream. That being said, Open Broadcast Software is a free tool that helps broadcast content quickly and it’s super adaptable and easy to use. There are some other options too such as Caffeine, Wirecast, vMix, VidBlasterX, XSplit and many others. Trying out as many of these tools as possible helps a lot, so try to pick the right option, then you will be fine. If you want to stream from consoles, usually they have a dedicated streaming capability within their menus.

Learning how to stream

Now that you have everything ready to go, you will need to watch some tutorials. Game Streaming platforms have their own tutorials. But you can also watch some tutorials on YouTube if you want, they will help you learn everything quickly and you will have a better understanding of how everything works and how you can set up everything.

One thing is certain, becoming a Game Streamer is very exciting and it can be an amazing journey. While some Game Streamers are successful and make a living only from that, don’t stream for the money involved here. What you want is to create a great community around your idea and format. Be creative, positive and just have fun!
